Opened in 1935 as the Rita Theater. By 1950 it had been renamed Pasadena Theater and was operated by Long Theaters who closed it in March 1950. It was converted to a furniture store and operated as Norman’s furniture until sometime after 2000. The original balcony etc. can still be seen.

The strange thing about this theater is patrons entered from the rear such that the screen was on the street side of the structure. This theater almost backs up to the Long’s Theater just down the block and both are just down from the Capitan Theater which in 2003 was planned to undergo renovation and restoration.

This is not the only reverse theatre in the country. Interestingly, there’s another one in the original Pasadena, as well: Pasadena, California.

The March 25, 1950 issue of Boxoffice said that Long’s Pasadena Theatre had been shuttered and the building would be remodeled for use as a store.
