The Hi-Y Drive-In was located at Bowman Street and S. Frazier Street. It had a 350-car capacity and sat on 10.68 acres. It was originally to be called the Y-Drive-In but was changed before it opened on August 11, 1950. The original owner was Charles Tigner of College Station, Texas. The first movie shown was the “Renegades”. Had individual car speakers, paved ramps and baby bottle warmers. The drive in closed in 1968 and sat abandoned and overgrown with weeds and trash for quite a few years. Apartments are on the property now.

Why the name Hi-Y?
though the apartments were built on half of the land so half of the ramps still remain behind the apartments.
The apartments now cover the entire property, there is no trace of the drive-in remaining.
