The Belmont Drive-In boasted itself as the only all-steel CinemaScope-ready screen in Alberta. It launched on September 29, 1954 with Diana Lynn in “Peggy” and Walt Disney’s “Treasure Island” starring Robert Newton. It was named after the Belmont neighborhood housing the drive-in complex.
The original screen tower was toppled in a 1987 tornado. The theatre was rebuilt and closed October 3, 1991 with a quadruple feature of adult titles, “Flying Sex”, “Desire for Love”, “Girls on the Make” and “Don’t Change Hands”. The Belmont Drive-In was demolished.
