Located in the city centre. The Cine Diana was opened on 20th July 1965 with Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton in “Cleopatra”. Seating was provided for 1,452 on a stadium plan, with a raised stepped section at the rear, rather than an overhanging balcony. The Cine Diana was equipped with 70mm projectors and also had Sensuround sound.
The Cine Diana was closed in February 1995. It stood abandoned and deteriorating until May 2001 when it was restored into a live theatre, which opened as the Teatro Diana on 18th September 2001.
