Located in Ballinrobe, County Mayo. The Popular Cinema was built in 1935 and opened in 1936. It was built by John B. Staunton and designed by architect Joseph Gannon. It had a Philips sound system fitted and had 360 seats. By 1940 it was operated by Joseph Gannon but turned into a garage when the Rex Cinema opened in Bridge Street in the mid-1950’s. The Popular Cinema was listed in the Kine Year Book until at least 1956.

The architect was Joseph Gannon, the new cinema was designed in 1935, opening in 1936.
