The Pioneer Drive-In was located on Highway 70 and opened by 1952 when it was operated by Bob Moran. By 1955 it was operated by Price Holland. It one of three drive-in’s located in Plainview, TX. Only the ramps remain today and the site is used for storage.

The concession stand/projection booth is long gone. A 1966 aerial shows the drive-in still open. A 1996 shows the concession stand/projection booth gone along with the screen.
The building in the photo was not present in 1966 nor does it appear to be any type of projection booth/concession stand. The large garage doors on the ground floor indicate that this building was designed and built for another purpose.

The Pioneer Drive-In opened in 1948 by owner William Patrick Moran Jr., unfortunately he was killed in an accident when his vehicle overturned on Highway 87 between Canyon and Tulia on November 20, 1952. He was also a father whose brother also operated a drive-in in Dallas.
