The Hill Drive-In opened August 3, 1950 with Robert Preston in “The Sundowners”. A.E. McLain was the manager, assistant manager was Wayne Young and it was operated by Robb & Rowley-United Inc. The drive-in was built by Tom Griffing Drive-In Theater Construction Company of Abilene. A storm destroyed the screen in the late-1950’s. It was replaced with a plain metal support type tower. By 1957 it was operated by Rowley United Theatres Inc. In May 1971 storms ripped up the screen again and the theatre was closed for good.
A lawnmower repair shop had used the concession building at one time, but now another business is using it. A few of the ramps remain. Other building have been built near the front of the property. The marquee is used by those business’s.

A closer address is 4377 TX-22, Hillsboro, TX. The drive-in sat west of the town and today it is the home to a few businesses, including the Warehouse Outlet of Texas.
You can still see the hint of ramps that were part of the drive-in between the businesses.

On Street View it looks like the old marquee may have been repurposed for the storage facility. It is definitely a different looking sign.
I’m not sure the concession stand/projector booth is still present. A 2019 Google Street View from FM 309 (the west side of the property) shows a dilapidated building which could be what’s left of the concession stand/projection booth.
But the 2022 view from the south (HWY-22) does not show the building at all. It looks like some additional buildings were added and perhaps the old concession stand/projection booth was taken down.

Anyway, the address name should be updated to 4379 E State Highway 22, Hillsboro, TX 76645. That’s where the entrance path leads the former theater to.
