Dixie Theatre

The Dixie Airdome opened April 2, 1910 with the films purportedly coming directly from St. Louis' Orpheum Theatre. The success of the Dixie Airdome led to the creation of a brick and mortar Dixie Theatre in 1911 in downtown Caruthersville, Missouri by Taylor & Ward. The theatre had a Powers #6 Camergraph and aluminum screen and opened in December of 1911 with, “Struck Gold”.

The silent-era Dixie Theatre discontinued regular movie operations in July of 1919. But the venue was used for live events including a speech by the Missouri governor-elect in 1920 and boxing matches.
