In 1938 it had been re-named Plaza Cinema following alterations and additions to the plans of architectural firm Drury & Gomersall. It was still operated by the Serano brothers.
Around 1953 it had been re-named Astor Cinema and by 1958 it had been re-named New Astor Cinema and a GB-Kalee sound system had been fitted. It closed in 1959.
