Located in the Collyhurst district to the northeast of Manchester. Built over the railway lines, the building tended to shake with the passing of trains. The Queen’s Park Picturedrome was opened in 1913, operated by Hiram Serano. It had a 24ft wide proscenium. By 1934 it had been equipped with a British Talking Pictures(BTP) sound system. In 1938 it had been re-named Plaza Cinema following alterations and additions to the plans of architectural firm Drury & Gomersall. It was still operated by the Serano brothers.

Around 1953 it had been re-named Astor Cinema and by 1958 it had been re-named New Astor Cinema and a GB-Kalee sound system had been fitted. It closed in 1959.
