Originally opened by Cinemark in 1998 as the second American theater chain after CinemaStar to enter Tijuana.
In November 2013 it was one of Cinemark’s 31 Mexican locations approved by regulators to be acquired by Grupo Cinemex. Cinemex noted they would start the process of digitation in the coming months.
Cinemex, founded in 1995, is considered one of the top 10 chains in the world, and had 316 locations in 2017.
