The Al Hamra Cinema was opened in 1966. Seating is provided in orchestra and balcony levels. It operated as a cinema and also live theatre on its stage. It was closed in 1989 and lay vacant & unused for 25 years until the TIRO Association for Arts took it over and began renovations on 20th June 2014. It was re-opened by Lebanese actor & director Kassem Istambouli, but by 2017 it had closed. It has reopened as a community arts space, screening films weekly, theatre performances, events and festivals.
