Located adjacent to the Odd Fellows Hall, which later became the Mack Theatre then the Elwood Theatre (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The small Superba Theatre launched in December 22, 1910. Sold, the theatre was renamed the Colonial Theatre on September 13, 1919. When the Grand Theatre burned, the Colonial Theatre was rebranded the Baby Grand Theatre in a tribute to the razed building on October 16, 1919. After a showing of “The Red Kimono” on September 16, 1928, the Baby Grand Theatre was silenced without converting to sound. A barber shop relocated to the Baby Grand Theatre a month later. It later operated as Circle Pizza and after a period of laying vacant it was demolished soon after 2008.

The correct address was 1526. This theater was in an old two story brick building which was built sometime before 1892. The Feb. 1910 map shows it as the Record Printing Co. It was probably a very basic conversion. The location of the building was just east of the mid-block alley, and at least as long ago as 2008 was a vacant lot. It’s now yet more surface parking for the few remaining businesses downtown. Should be changed to demolished.
I think this was probably demolished at the same time as the Elwood in 2000, maybe 2001.
