The Adams Opera House went from live venue to part-time movie theatre to full-time movie theatre in 1917. When the Adams Theatre was built on the next block, the Opera House went to a dance hall and then appears to be vacant for a lengthy period.
The Adams Opera House suffered a December 29, 1968 roof collapse that caused damage to it and the neighboring grocery store. It was ordered condemned and was razed in 1969.
