Locals referred to this location as an historic moving picture location because Frank Pelton and Paul Alexander of Cleveland opened it in 1904 as part of the fledgling Kinodrome Circuit. Improvements to a more modern photoplay house occurred when it became the Electric Theatre.

It became the Jewel Theatre on November 14, 1907 and the venue closed for three months for its final major renovation as a 250-seat cinema. On June 3, 1930, the Jewel Theatre closed after a showing of “Clancy in Wall Street”. Owner George Geyer turned the building into a billiard hall. The building was razed decades later.

“The Jewel, a handsome little theater, opened on November 14 in Fremont, Ohio, and is doing good business.”
