Royal Theatre

Fox & Brown opened the Royal Theatre on March 11, 1911. After a little more than two months, it closed but reopened August 19, 1911. On December 2, 1911, the theatre was playing “The Reporter’s Romance” which caught fire causing an explosion. That not only eliminated “The Breaking of the Seventh Commandment”, “The Brown Calf”, and “The Squaw’s Retribution” from the schedule that night but also ended the Royal Theatre. All seven patrons and the employees escaped uninjured. The building became a fish market and was later demolished.
