Located in the north of the city centre on what was originally named Plaza Vazquez de Mella. Opened in 1906 as a cinema named Salon Venecia with 300 seats. It was closed in 1908. Closed for many years, it was re-opened in 1920 as a cinema named the Ideal Room. It was soon presenting music hall and closed in 1932.
It was remodeled in an Art Deco style into the Teatro Cine Benavente with 500 seats in orchestra and balcony levels. It re-opened on 29th September 1933 with a play “Amores y amorios” starring Antonio Vico. In January 1936 it began screening films.
The Teatro Cine Benavente was closed in 1978. It reopened as an adult sex cinema which closed in 1984. It has since been demolished and an apartment block has been built on the site.
