The Majestic Theater opened in 1908 with 300 seats. It was Freeport’s first true movie house (as opposed to a number of nickelodeons operating in the city around the first decade or two of the 20th Century). It was enlarged to 500+ seats in 1913.
The Majestic Theater closed in 1924.

An item about the renovation of the Majestic Theatre in Freeport appeared in the December 27, 1913, issue of The Moving Picture World:
The 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory lists the Majestic M. P. Theatre, at 118 Stephenson St. I believe Freeport’s lots have since been renumbered.
The Majestic opened as a nickelodeon in July of 1907 in the existing McNamara Building. The Majestic was discontinued at the end of its 15-year leasing agreement on April 13, 1922 by Orpheum Circuit which opened the Lindo Theatre the next day to replace the Majetsic. The McNamara Building was sold in 1924 and the new owners converted it in November of 1924 for other purposes.
