The Opera House was built in the 1880’s. By 1914 the Opera House was operating as a movie theatre. By 1926 it had been renamed Liberty Theatre. By 1928 it had been renamed Mystic Theatre. It was still operating as a silent movie theatre in 1931. By 1932 it had been equipped with a sound system. It was still operating in 1937, but was possibly soon closed when the new Art Deco style Willcox Theater opened.

Since 1989 it has been converted into the Rex Allen Museum - Willcox Cowboy Hall of Fame.

The Mystic Theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
