Located in the city centre on The Cross, which today has disappeared due to redevelopment. The La Scala Picture Theatre was opened on 19th September 1921. It had a tea room which opened in November 1921. It had a 30ft wide proscenium, the stage was 30ft deep and there were four dressing rooms. Films were booked by A.B. King’s Caledonian Associated Cinemas.
It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system in 1930. By 1945 it had been re-named La Scala Cinema. The La Scala Cinema was closed in 1969 and was demolished in 1976.
