This was the final movie theater in the Academy of Music Building: The Illini Theatre which replaced an auto showroom for John Hoppler’s Oakland-Pontiac Automobile Agency. It also was the replacement for the neighboring Grand Theatre which suffered a fire after operating from 1914-1924. The Illini came in not long after that fire.
