AMC Riverview 14

Goodrich Quality Theaters opened the 1,665 seat Riverview 14 on March 16, 2017. Their two GDX (Giant Digital Experience) 260-seat auditoriums, with Dolby Atmos sound systems, have screens 70-feet wide. The $20 million theatre has soundproof walls, ceilings and flooring from which no sound can escape

The Tampa Bay Times reported that two hours after receiving a certificate of occupancy it sold 1,300 tickets for shows through Sunday (probably most for “Beauty and the Beast” live action version.

Included with the expanded concession area is a Gastropub and party and meeting rooms. There are no servers in the auditoriums but food can be brought in and eaten on recliners with trays.

Only five miles away the similarly named Xscape Riverview 14 opened on November 16, 2016. The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce noted there is enough population to support both theaters. Hillsborough County estimates that Riverview, with an 83,000 population will increase by 10,000 in five years.

Goodrich Quality Theaters now has 31 locations in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Michigan.

By 2020 it had been taken over by AMC.

The Goodrich Riverview 14 is featured on this page of the web site of Paradigm Design, architects of the project. Interestingly, Paradigm also designed this theater’s nearby competitor, the Xscape Riverview.
