The Cine Verdi was opened in 1952. It was named as a tribute to opera composer Giuseppe Verdi. Another nearby cinema was the Cine Capri. The Cine Verdi was sold to the State of Barinas in the late-1980’s.

It re-opened as a live theatre, re-named Teatro Orlando Araujo on 8th August 1992.
