Located in Tullamore, County Offaly. The Ritz Cinema was built in 1946 at a cost of £30,000. It was opened on 12th June 1946 with Gregory peck in “Keys to the Kingdom”. It closed on 7th August 1980 with Robert Redford in “The Electric Horseman”.
It was purchased by AN Post (the Irish post office) who planned to convert the building into a telephone exchange, but this plan was not carried out due to lack of local funding. In 1984 most of the building was demolished apart from the front right-hand wing which was occupied by Sean Joyce auctioneers until 2019.
