The historic Caine Lyric Theatre in downtown Logan was built by the Thatcher families and opened to the public on September 22, 1913 with Lottie Pickford in “The House of Bondage”. The charming Victorian-style theatre which seats 388 patrons, is a jewel box proscenium theatre and was billed as “the showplace of Northern Utah”.
In the years following World War II, the theatre came on hard times, was closed and fell into disrepair. A restored Lyric Theatre opened as part of Utah State Theatre in the spring of 1961. The Caine Lyric building was placed on the Utah State Register of Historic Sites in 1971.
