This single screen theatre was on the ground floor of small building that looks more like a log cabin than anything else. Cinema II opened January 10, 1973 with Charles Bronson in “The Valachi Papers”. It was the Cinema II to differentiate itself from the Cinema in Corte Madera which once commanded exclusivity from all other theatres in Marin County. In May 1984 it began screening adult movies, but closed in August 1984. It reopened on October 3, 1984 with Walt Disney animated feature “The Jungle Book”. It was closed on July 28, 1990 with Mel Gibson in “Bird on a Wire” & Alan Alda in “Betsy’s Wedding”.

Now operating as a church.

Do you mean Redwood Highway? That was the “locals” name for Hwy 101.

  • In May 1984, the Cinema II began screening adult movies after a short renovation closure but the theater immediately closed that August and reopened back as a first-run theater on October 3, 1984, screening Disney’s “The Jungle Book” as its reopening attraction.
