Eye Cinema

Located in the Wellpark Retail Park. The EYE opened in March 2005 and is run by Gerry Barrett of Edward Holdings. Its emphasis is to build Galway’s worldwide reputation for celebrating Irish and international theatre, music, literature and the visual arts, and offers a nine-screen cinema experience.

It was designed by Douglas Wallace Architects and cost a total of €30,000,000. A 100-metre curved glass wall to the building ensures complete transparency and breaks the mould of traditional cinema design.

Each of the screens has stadium seating and Dolby Digital 7.1 full surround sound with Widescreen and Cinemascope presentations. One is a luxury screen for special hire or corporate use. There is also a Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream parlour in the building.
