Patee Theatre

The Nickel Theatre was opened by Clair M. Patee and Vivian Patee in 1903. It was still known as the Nickel Theatre in March 1908, but was later renamed Patee Theatre. It was closed around 1913 when the new larger Patee Theatre opened at 828 Massachusetts Street. It is now a bookshop.

Stumbled across an article while researching in a May 26, 1923 issue of “Universal Weekly” pp. 6-7 that says “Clair M. Pattee [sic] of the Pattee Theatre, Lawrence, Kansas, the first motion picture exhibitor west of the Mississippi River.” (This Theatre entry is a duplication)
