Located in the Hazel Dell South section of Vancouver. The Hazel Dell Cinemas was opened by Luxury Theatres on December 22, 1976. It was a second-run theatre in the mid-1980’s, owned and operated by Jon and Colleen Thrift who also operated the Renfro Drive-In and the Cascade Park Cinemas. It was taken over by Act III Theatres on April 30, 1989. It was closed in 1999.

Abra Auto Body & Glass now operates on the site.

Was originally part of the Luxury Theatres/Act III empire.

As I remember the layout was the same as the Jantzen Beach Tri Cinema, which was also LT/A3 (and today is a car park in front of one big-box supercentre or another).

I believe Jon Thrift is related to Tom Moyer.

Act III took over the theater on April 30, 1989. However, United Artists originally planned to take over the theater by June 5, 1988 but was immediately scrapped by Luxury before the deadline that April.
