This opened on December 3, 1999 by Famous Players as Colisée Kirkland. It has the same design as Coliseum Scarborough and Coliseum Nepean (Ottawa). It was taken over by Cineplex in 2005 and renamed Cinema Cineplex Kirkland in 2014. An UltraAVX screen was installed in 2012. English movies are shown here.

I was hired as part of the group of staff that opened this building. We trained as a group at the Paramount (now Scotia Bank theatre) downtown.
Originally the building was lined on the outside with fiber optic cable that was illuminated via control boxes on the roof. It was supposed to give the illusion that the circular building was rotating. It never worked as planned and the control boxes fell into disrepair in the early 2000’s and were never repaired. All the cable was removed from the exterior when Cineplex repainted the theatre during the re-branding.
The original blueprints for this theatre had a possible future addition of an IMAX screen that would have been added off the back entrance.
This theatre’s opening movies include The World is Not Enough, Sleepy Hollow, Toy Story 2, Laura Cadieux… La Suite, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (for one week only), End of Days, Pokémon: The First Movie (for matinees), and The Insider (for evenings).
Correct title is “Cinéma Cineplex Kirkland”.
