Originally one screen, the Chelmsford Drive-In opened in 1955. It was operated by George Abdulah of Lowell, MA. A second screen was added in 1974. It was closed on September 3, 1988. Condominiums now stand on the site.

Independent Film Journal, Sept. 4, 1954: “George Abdulah and his brother-in-law Sylvester Boumill, who operate the Tyngsboro Drive-In, Mass., are building a second ozoner for the 1955 season in Chelmsford on the Lowell-Chelmsford line to accommodate 1,000 cars.”
The Chelmsford Drive-In was twinned in 1974, and the theater closed for the final time on September 3, 1988 with “The Blob” and “Red Heat” at Screen 1 and “Die Hard” and “License To Drive” at Screen 2 as its final films.
