Originally built as the Boro' Bazaar in 1877, it became the Borough Theatre in 1879. Later bazaar use was returned to the ground floor and the upstairs became a theatre again. The Borough Theatre was a variety theatre in the 1920’s, with films and repertory theatre use in the winter off-season months.
In the 1930’s it was renamed Feldman’s Theatre and was remodeled in 1937 to the plans of architectural firm Derham, McKeith & Partners. The stage was 21ft deep and the proscenium 25ft wide. Films were not a main feature of the programming from then on.
In 1952 it was taken over by the James Brennan circuit and was re-named Queen’s Theatre. It was later closed and demolished when the whole area became the Houndshill Shopping Centre.
