Grand Pavilion Theatre

Located on the Promenade, South Shore, the Victoria Pier (since 1930 known as South Pier) had at its seaward end the 3,000-seat Grand Pavilion Theatre which opened with the pier on Good Friday 1893. It began screening films in the summer of 1913 and was still in cinema use in 1933, although also used as a live theatre. It was damaged by a fire in 1958 and was destroyed by a further fire in 1964.

The site at the end of the pier since 1998 has been taken up by a white knuckle ride and other fairground rides and amusements.

After the fire in 1964, it was replaced(after only three months) by the Rainbow Theatre.
