The Skyline Drive-In was opened on September 24, 1953 when it was operated by James Booze & Chester Smith. It was listed as being located in Verda to the east of Harlan, KY. It was closed on June 19, 1966 with James Darren in “The Lively Set” & John Wayne in “McLintock”. Nothing remains of the drive-in.

It appears that it opened in either 1953 or 1954, and was gone in the 1980s. Stacey Lane wasn’t even extended until after the demolition of the Skyline, as the closest address to the entrance was located on 6380 KY-38.
Chester Smith and James Booze celebrated the launch of their Skyline Drive-In Theatre with a free screening n September 24, 1953. Portable heaters allowed it to operate year-round.
The drive-in was still intact in 1988, although it had clearly closed long before that. By 1995, it had been completely demolished.
Today, the eastern half is part of the T.J. Brewer Recreational Park while the western half is overgrown with plenty of debris. There is no trace of the drive-in remaining.
Closed after a double feature of “Lively Set” and “McLintock” on June 19, 1966. Items were sold from the drive-in later that year.
