The Miners Institute opened in 1895. Movies were screened from 18th March 1897 to 1900 or 1901. The building was later renamed the Mechanics Institute. The building is still there, but no longer screens movies!? The building is now a travel agency(Flight Centre), Echelon Finance, and Richard Northcoat FCP Financial planner.
