The Adair Drive-In was opened on May 21, 1952 when it was operated by O.G. Roaden. The opening movies was Betty Hutton in “Annie Get Your Gun”. Located across from Church of God Southside at 24 Burnett Road, Columbia, KY 42728. It was closed in the late-1980’s and demolished in the 1990’s. There are several buildings on the property.

The theater was actually located on 177 Burkesville Loop, Columbia, KY 42728. The theater opened around 1953, closed in the late 1980s, and demolished in the 1990s. A 1951 aerial shows that the theater was not built yet.
Found it! The Adair Drive-In opened its gates on May 21, 1952 with Betty Hutton in “Annie Get Your Gun” along with two cartoons (unlisted on grand opening ad).
It was first owned by F.X. Merkley and Alvin Willis, before being taken over by O.G. Roden a few years later. Roden operated the Adair County Drive-In for a little more than 25 years until his death on May 2, 1983.
Its closing date remains unknown at this time.
