The Southern Cross Town Hall opened on 16th December 1936. Movie screenings were seldom held in the Town Hall(late-1936 to 1941) due to Goodin’s Hall and Open Air Pictures being more popular. The Town Hall was demolished in the early-1990’s, and a new Town Hall built on the same site opened in December 1996.
