The Star Theatere of 2020 Bourke Street, Melbourne was opened on February 11, 1911. The theatre had a continuous screening policy commencing at 11am daily, with sessions every one hour and a half in duration. The changes were bi-weekly with a closing time of 11pm. The opening programme consisted of “A Cheyenne Brave”, “David and Goliath”, Highflyte’s Aeroplane", “Max in Search of a Sweetheart”, “The Girl of the Golden West”, “Pathe’s Gazette” & “Football at Home”. The theatre was entirely renovated and remodelled, and a powerful electric lighting plant on the premises enabled the management to secure a maximum degree if clearness in the projection of the picture series. It possibly closed as a silent cinema.
