The Eastside Theater opened in 1922, on S. Ewing Avenue and near the corner of E. 106th Street, in the East Side neighborhood of Chicago, not far from the Illinois-Indiana border.
The Eastside Theater closed on January 31, 1954 with Alan Ladd in “Botany Bay” & Virginia Mayo in “Devil’s Canyon”.
In 1966 the Eastside Theater was converted into a bank, with a new facade. The bank was still open in 2009. By 2011 the building had become a pharmacy and had closed by 2018. The building was vacant in 2024.

In the book “IMAGES of AMERICA- CHICAGO’S SOUTHEAST SIDE” by Rod Sellers, there is a nice pic of the East Side theatre on page 34. Nice shot of the marquee;“THE OUTLAW” with Jane Russell is playing along with a second feature. The year is 1950. The EastSide theatre was one of the first theatres to convert to “talkies” in the late 20s. Also on page 34, a photo of the Gayety; on page 33 is a nice shot of the Commercial theatre(marquee and entrance).According to the text, at one time 17 theatres were operating on the Southeast side!
Here is a 1950 photo:

There is currently a Royal Savings Bank at this address, in a more recent (1960s?) structure.
Can you be sure it’s not just heavily remodeled?
They’ll say that if it was majorly remodeled, though. In the aerial view, it’s certainly theater-shaped.
The EastSide Theatre closed permanently on January 31, 1954 with “Botany Bay” and “Devil’s Canyon.” The building was renovated in 1966 to become a bank.
