Lyceum Theater

The Rochester Lyceum Theater was owned by Abe E. Wollf and members of his family. Opening in 1888, it presented drama, comedy, minstrels shows and silent films and was host to such performers as Edwin Booth, Otis Skinner, Sarah Bernhardt, Helen Hayes and the Barrymores. Pressed by stiff competition from newer venues, it closed down in 1934. Was replaced by a series of parking lots.
