Another one of the many small Loop movie houses opened in the first decade or so of the 20th century on Madison Street, Chicago’s first theatre district (replaced by the mid-to-late 1920’s by Randolph Street), the Madison Theatre opened around 1915.
Like most of its neighbors, such as the Band Box Theatre, Casino Theatre, and Rose Theatre, this tiny theatre also had a relatively brief existence, closing by the early-1920’s, and not a trace of it remains today (as the bulk of the area which these theaters stood was entirely cleared in the mid-1960’s when First National Plaza was built).
