The Picture House was opened on 21st December 1911. The auditorium was converted from buildings at the rear of the Villiers Club to the plans of architect A. Eaton Painter. There was a narrow entrance on Victoria Street, with a corridor leading to the cash desk and auditorium.
In 1923 the building was enlarged to the plans of architectural firm Hickton & Farmer of Walsall. It re-opened on 17th May 1923. It had rear projection. The building was sold to Beatties adjoining department store in June 1926, but it continues to operate as a cinema. The Picture House was closed on 28th September 1929 with Tallulah Bankhead in “Hi House in Order”. It was demolished and an expansion of Beatties was built on the sire.
