Southland 68 Auto Theatre

Built and opened in 1961, the Southland 68 Auto Theatre was built just off of Highway 68 for $250,000 by J.M. Mahaffey and A.J. Hughes. Much as was the case for land speculation, the drive-in served its usefulness as the land use and population shifts occurred. The o-zoner has been replaced by a Kroger grocery store.

The Southland 68 Auto Theatre opened on August 16th, 1961 with “World’s Largest Movie Screen”. Grand opening ad posted.
