Lyric Cinema

The Lyric Cinema opened in the 1920’s and closed on 28th August 1976 with “Operation Daybreak”. The building was demolished in 1981. Was owned by Amalgamated Cinemas when demolition occurred. The Lyric Cinema had a double door entrance to parterre, stalls and balcony from Glentworth Street. Entrance to gallery was through a double gate entrance from Perry Square, which entrance was also used in connection with the fire escape from the balcony, gallery and ballroom exits from the parterre and stalls.

The Lyric closed on 28 August 1976 with Operation daybreak. The site remained vacant for over 25 years.
