Short films were part of the programme in the 1900’s. The Palace Theatre was screening films and variety shows by 1927 and in June 1930 it became a full time cinema after being equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. The proscenium is 28ft wide. It has a 25ft deep stage and seven dressing rooms. It was closed as a cinema on 4th June 1988 with “Trains, Planes and Automobiles”.
