Oisin Cinema

Located in Clonmel, County Tipperary. The Oisin Theatre was opened in 1921 as a live theatre. In September 1939 it was converted into a cinema, opening with Leslie Howard in “Pygmalion”. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system.

The Oisin Cinema was destroyed by fire on 17th December 1966. The last film to play was Sidney Poitier in “A Patch of Blue”. Heatons Department Store was built on the site.

Apparently opened as a theatre and converted to cinema September 1939 when it reopened with Pygmalion. Destroyed by fire 17 December 1966.
