Located in Earlestown, Newton-Le-Willows, Lancashire at the junction of Market Street and Stanley Street. The Pavilion was built as a skating rink in 1910. It had a glazed front facade to allow light into the building. It closed in 1911 and was converted into a music hall and legitimate theatre. In the summer of 1913, it was presenting ‘picture matinees’. By the mid-1920’s it was operating as a cine-variety house.

Alterations were carried out in April 1930, when a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system was installed, and it screened its first ‘talkie’ Al Jolson in “Say it With Songs” on 5th May 1930. It had a 30ft wide proscenium and the stage was 25ft deep.

The Pavilion Cinema was closed on 14th October 1955 with Tony Curtis in “Six Bridges to Cross”. Newton-Le-Willows Police Station now stands on the site.
