Built as a sister theater to Toledo’s Westwood Theatre in 1925 it had 500 seats. The Eastwood Theater later became a church, and its sister, the Westwood Theater, is now an X-rated movie house!
The Eastwood Theater was reopened in late-summer of 2014 as a second run movie theatre and special events venue. Seating has now been reduced to 342.

I was born in Toledo, Flower Hospital, 1938. We moved in 1948 however, I vaguely remember the Eastwood/Westwood. I certainly remember The World Theater on Dorr Street as well as the Dixie. The Dixie showed primarily black artist films. Also remember the Paramount, The Rivoli, Tivoli, Esquire, Lowe’s Valentine……and the Maumee Drive In Theater. I think the speakers were on top of the screen and you had to keep your windows down to hear……and fight off the mosquitoes. I remember The State as well. And possibly something called The Pantheon(?)

Status should be closed and function should be church.
The Eastwood has gone through a succession of church operators, some of whom put a lot of repairs in the building. Worthy of restoration/preservation.
Love to have a picture of the marquee with Clint playing there.
I knew it.
Happy late Birthday CLINT.
The Eastwood was operated by the Eastside Amusement Company. The Eastside Amusement Company was operated out of the Code Building at 6th and Main in East Toledo by Martin G. Smith.
I love this cinema. It is completely renovated. We can walk to it from our house in the east village on the east side. We saw Maleficent. Great movie. I highly recommend this theater. $5 for movie. $2 for popcorn!
