This was both the first Queen Theatre and the first Texas Theatre in Brownsville. The first Queen Theatre in Brownsville opened on February 19, 1916 and when the new Queen Theatre opened on February 4, 1926, it was renamed the Texas Theatre.
Film Daily Year Book 1928 listed the theatre with 275 seats. According to advertisements in the Brownsville Herald, the Texas Theatre closed in 1930 and its equipment was put up for sale. The W.T. Grant store opened in the remodeled building in December 1930.
