Perla Theater was situated along the main road of Dr. Salamanca in San Roque, Cavite City. It’s a two-storey structure made of wood and, until it was burned down in 26th of March 2003, was the oldest existing building in the city. It featured, double, triple programs and was well maintained inside. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, Soledad (Choleng) Rojas-Joco operated both Perla Theater and Maria Theater cinemas. Both were kept clean, fragrant and well ventilated by big blowers and electric fans strategically located. By the 1980’s, both theaters were no longer operated by the Rojas family.
The Perla Theater was rented out and the real owners of Maria Theater took over its operations. Perla Theater lost its grandeur. It became unkempt and its toilets, filthy. Bold or X-rated movies were shown but it still failed to attract audiences. It was burned to the ground due to faulty electric wirings.
