Landmark Theatres opened this 6 screener October 15, 2015 with “Steve Jobs” on all screens at 8th Street NW & V Street NW in the U Street corridor of the Shaw neighborhood of Washington DC. The building also houses residential condominiums. The theater lobby has a full service bar. This is a the second Landmark multiplex for “art” films in D.C., as the E Street Cinema downtown was the 1st.
Auditoriums are reserved seating, with luxury, leather seats, seating capacities that range from 44 to the mid-50’s, and Dolby 7.1 surround sound. Movie projectors drop down from a recess, rather than being in a projection booth.

I haven’t yet been hear to see a movie, but wouldn’t the drop down projector’s create an audible (annoying) noise during the movie?
Giles, please go see a movie there, take photos for the photo gallery, and tell us whether you hear the projector, and if not, why not.
Interesting name!! Why the word plumbing in the name?
I was aware this place existed but its nowhere I’d like to go to in DC. No one has visited here, yet? I imagine its like the other Landmarks.
I agree with you, David. An interesting name. One I would have not chosen. Perhaps, the building was a landmark (pardon the pun) for a plumbing company… now long gone? :)
Perhaps more interesting is this cinema is currently showing all mainstream movies, not a single “art” movie.
Please update, total seats 297
Outside of cooling fans, today’s digital projectors do not have an audible sound. The “drop down” systems are becoming quite common.
